Stockholm – Swedish police on Tuesday evacuated parts of a terminal building at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport after a bomb alert and apprehended a man who appeared mentally unstable.
Police spokesperson Albin Naverberg said bomb disposal experts were at the scene to inspect a plane, declining to name the carriers involved.
German Wings said in an emailed statement to dpa that a threat by a man was made during the boarding process for a flight from Stockholm to Hamburg.
The 49 passengers had to disembark and police ordered the evacuation.
Airport operator Swedavia said a suspicious piece of luggage had triggered the alert.
Some 24 gates used for international flights were affected, Swedavia spokesperson Asa Ohman said.
